The Minimum Bathroom Space

By: ArthurW.

Here are a few facts to understand the minimum space required for your bathroom.

The Shower And The Bathtub
Although it may be difficult to find smaller versions of tubs or showers for bathroom minimum of space, they are not totally impossible to find. A large variety of the products are available in the market today. You can even ask a manufacturer to provide you with custom made tubs to suit your space requirements.

The shower stall is where you would go for a quick bath or when you are in a hurry. The space of the stall will affect your comfort and the functionality of the stall. Keeping this point in mind, it has been determined that the shower stall should be a minimum of 34 square inches. There should be a clearance of 30 square inches in front of the shower. The height of the shower head to be considered is something around 78 inches approximately. The bath should be able to accommodate a person in such a way so that he or she doesn’t feel cramped when in it. The ideal size for a bath tub is approximately 65 inches in length and about 30 inches wide. A clearance of 30 inches in front of the tub is required.

The Toilet
The rough-in dimensions, shape of the seat, type of the tank, all determine how much space would be occupied by a toilet. Installing the toilet closer to the wall would help reduce the space necessary for it. The size of the toilet is an important factor affecting how the bathroom looks, and hence should be carefully decided. The question of comfort is of vital importance too. Elongated bowls are more comfortable whereas the rounded ones occupy less space. The toilet should have a 36x36 inches clearance as well. No other sanitary ware should come in this clearance space. At least 15 inches from the centre of the toilet to any side wall is recommended. The dimensions of the enclosure should be 36 inches in width and approximately around 66 inches in depth.

The Sink
Sinks come in a huge range of varieties. There is no standard size in which it is available in the market. The various types of sinks are wall hung sinks, corner sinks, pedestrial sinks and even the Lilliputian sink. However, the smaller size would cause more clumsiness. This fact should be considered along with its low space requirements. Sinks should have a clearance space of 30x48 inches. The minimum clearance space from the centre line to any side wall should be around 15 inches. The height of the sink should be decided according to the user. Considering the above mentioned information, a person should establish how much space he would need and how much is the bathroom minimum of space. Looking at the entire aspects of space and quality issues, one should carefully reach a proper balance between the comfort, looks and the space required by each design before deciding to go for it. The choice of these factors varies from person to person in establishing his bathroom minimum of space. There are many benefits to remodeling your bathroom, even if the bathroom is very small. Whether it is simply replacing a few bathroom unites or just redecorating, or completely bathroom refurbishment, the changes would have a big impact making a huge improvement in your bathroom.
